WE WILL RESCHEDULE AND POST UPDATES WHEN PLANS ARE FINALIZED*** The University of Kentucky Graduate Appalachian Research Community presents the 6th Annual UK Appalachian Research Community Symposium and Arts Showcase on Saturday, March 7, 2015 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the William T. Young Library. This year's keynote speaker is Lisa Conley, Ph.D. Her research interests focus on foodways, environmental sustainability, and local food politics in motivating the self-provisioning practices of people in rural and urban Kentucky. Registration for presenters and non-presenters is free. Undergraduate and Graduate students are welcome to register.

On Friday, Sept. 26, celebrated folk duo Sparky and Rhonda Rucker will perform. The next Friday, Oct. 2, Letcher County's only female fiddle duo, the SkiPdiPPerS, will appear.
'Tomorrow Corps' Offers Students a Chance to Work, Serve in Appalachia
Students from across UK have a new opportunity to work for the well-being of children in the 54 Appalachian counties of Kentucky, in the "UK Tomorrow Corps," a service initiative being launched by the UK Appalachian Center.

Please join the UK Appalachian Center at an Appalachian Forum with Dr. Fran Ansley, Professor Emeritus of law at the University of Tennessee Knoxville on Wednesday, November 5, 2014. Dr. Ansley will give a talk entitled Telescoping Movements, Telescoping Time: Five Decades of Looking for the Labor Movement through an Appalachian Lens in the Niles Gallery from 3:30 to 5 p.m. This is a part of the Appalachian Forum Speaker Series on Civil Rights, Labor and Environmental Movements in Appalachia. Please join the UK Appalachian Center for an evening with Mimi Pickering as part of our Appalachain Forum Series on Appalachian Labor, Civil Rights, and Environmental Movements. This is a free and public screening of "Anne Braden: Southern Patriot" followed by a discussion of the film with the Director and Producer of the film, Mimi Pickering.
