My research expertise focuses on physiological ecology and molecular evolution of animals using comparative approaches to elucidate how mechanisms employed by animals contribute to an organism’s behavior, as well as the evolution of those adaptations. In the classroom, I utilize pedagogical best-practices to facilitate student learning, as well as build student's scientific competence and self-efficacy. I have experience teaching a variety of biological subdisciplines at multiple higher education institutions.
