Brent Sturlaugson is an architect and assistant professor in the College of Design at the University of Kentucky. His research contributes to a more critical understanding of sustainability in architecture by explaining how design mobilizes a cascade of social, cultural, economic, political, and environmental effects. Sturlaugson has received awards from the American Institute of Architects, the Society of American Registered Architects, and the Institute of International Education, and his work has been published in Places Journal, Journal of Green Building, and Journal of Architectural Education, among others. He has practiced architecture and urban design internationally, and maintains a collaborative research and design practice.
