Celebrate 2013: Ben Chandler
The Honorable Albert B. Chandler III (Ben Chandler) received his B.A. in history in 1983 and his J.D. in 1986. He was elected Kentucky Attorney General in 1995 and served as the United States Representative for Kentucky's 6th congressional district from 2004 to 2013. A long-time supporter of arts and humanities at the state and national level, he is now executive director the Kentucky Humanities Council.

Art and Epidemics: UKC 310 with Rita Basuray and Katherine Rogers-Carpenter
Creative expression and disease aren't two topics that are often juxtaposed, but UKC 310: Art and Epidemics, will explore five diseases from a creative and technical angle: tuberculosis, AIDS, cancer, alcoholism, and the plague - through a variety of creative lenses, including film, short fiction, poetry, and art.

2012 Ken Freedman Outstanding Advisor Award: Jamie Wheeler
Jamie Wheeler, an A&S professional advisor, is a 2012 recipient of the University of Kentucky's Ken Freedman Outstanding Advising Award, which is given each year to one professional and one faculty adviser. Candidates for the award are nominated by UK's student body, and this is the second year in a row a professional advisor within A&S has received the honor. A&S professional advisors work with more than 300 students each, with each focusing on a particular academic community.
