How to Grade by Question

This can often be useful when an instructor wants to change the grade of one question for everyone. To do so, follow these steps:

1.  Go into your course shell and enter the Full Grade Center.

2.  Scroll to the column associated with test you want to grade.

3.  Click on the grey arrow beside the title of the column.

4.  From the drop down menu, select “Grade Questions.”

5.  You should be taken to a list of the questions . Scroll to the one you want to grade.

6.  To the very right is a column titled “Responses."  Click on the blue number in this column that is next to the question you wish to grade.

7.  Each students' response will be there. You can edit their score to the right, by clicking “Edit” and typing in the new score.

How to View Assignments in Progress

Sometimes students are able to begin an assignment and then go back in later to finish it.  You can view what they have completed by doing the following:

1.  Go into your course shell and enter the Full Grade Center.

2.  Scroll and find the column that is associated with the assignment you wish to view.

3.  Once you have located the assignment, click on the grey arrow near the title of the column.

4.  From the drop down menu, select "View All Attempts."

5.  From here, you will see a list of students who have attempted the assignment.  Under the column "Grade" next to their number grade will be a grey arrow.  Click on the arrow.

6.  From this drop down menu select "View Attempt."

7.  In order for the assignment to be automatically graded, click "Submit."

How to View Survey Results

1.  Enter your course shell in Blackboard and access the Full Grade Center.

2.  Scroll to find the column associated with the survery you wish the view.

3.  Click on the grey arrow next to the title of the column. 

4.  From the drop down menu, select "Attempts Statistics,"  (NOT Column Statistics).

5.  This will show you the percentage tallies of questions, as well as the typed answers to the short answer questions.

SafeAssign Rubric Work-around

In order to use an associated rubric for grading with a SafeAssignment, instructors must follow a specific process. (Note: When creating a SafeAssignment, instructors cannot associate a Rubric in the same manner regular assignments are associated with rubrics. The Rubric must be associated to the SafeAssignment's Grade Column in the Grade Center, not the assignment.)
