VPR-CURATE Program (Celebrating University Research Across the Enterprise)

Deadline for submission is  March 18th. Approval of funding is typically May 1st.

The Office of the Vice President for Research funds the CURATE program (formerly known as Research and Creativity Awards) “to support grant programs for research, scholarship, and creative works in areas of excellence that are not traditionally amenable to external funding.” This program will support summer salary for research by eligible faculty and support for a broad range of research/creative activities.

Advancing Innovative Research

Faculty are limited to being PI or Co-PI on one Expanding Transdisciplinary or Broadening per year.

Research and scholarship are fundamental to the mission and vision of Arts & Sciences. Presented below are opportunities to build our research enterprise in addition to supporting research and scholarship in A&S.

Expanding Transdisciplinary Research within Arts & Sciences (A&S)

This mechanism is focused on new research seed grants which enable two or more disciplines in A&S to collaborate on transdisciplinary research projects.

To apply for funding:

Application deadlines: October 1 and March 1

  • First submission date budget period January 1 - December 31
  • Second submission date budget period May 1 - April 30
     

Broadening our Funded Research Base in Arts & Sciences (A&S)

This program is intended to jumpstart new researchers and for individuals who have not secured an external grant but are in disciplines where external support (including private foundations) is available. Our aim is to encompass faculty in the Humanities, Social and Behavioral Sciences, and Natural and Mathematical Sciences.

  • Up to $20,000 for one year
  • Faculty Awardees will attend grant writing workshop as a cohort
  • Preference for faculty who do not have a history of external funding

Application deadlines: October 1 and March 1

  • First submission date budget period January 1 - December 31
  • Second submission date budget period May 1 - April 30
     

Supporting Research and Scholarship in Arts & Sciences (A&S)

This mechanism is focused on supporting research and scholarship, bridge funding, and equipment replacement.

Requests for travel support and for equipment repair/replacement will be considered March 1, June 1, September 1, and December 1.
