Functional Team Lead - Jordan Butler

Our mission is to provide the best computer support service to the College of Arts and Sciences.

We handle the following tasks.

  • Perform hardware installations on office desktops
  • Troubleshoot software and hardware problems
  • Replace office desktops and monitors as they are purchased for individuals
  • Address other problems with laptops, smartphones, etc. as requested
  • Perform hardware/software installations
  • Supporting various Applications
  • Monitoring and responding to support requests quickly and effectively via chat, phone, email and in-person
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve technical hardware and/or software problems on faculty, staff and graduate students computers
  • Analyze and identify technical support trends and devise preventative solutions
  • Train users on use of hardware/software
  • Address other problems with laptops, smartphones, etc. as requested
  • Management of College Technology Inventory in cooperation with the Space and Facilities Team
    • Receiving, tagging, configuring, and distributing new desktops, laptops, monitors, and tablets
    • Tracking changes in equipment locations/owners in an inventory database
    • Removing and cataloging items for surplus, taking steps to destroy sensitive data (either through physical shredding or multi-pass deletion)
  • Technology Purchasing Assistance
    • Maintain website “catalog” of A&S recommended quotes that can be submitted directly to the A&S business center for purchase
    • Create custom quotes as requested when faculty have needs outside our list of standards
    • Consult on departmental purchases for specific teaching or research needs
