Building Emergency Action Plan (BEAP)

The building emergency action plan provides guidance to occupants during an emergency situation.  The information listed in each document includes disaster and crisis planning, contact information for building and floor leaders, and maps of emergency exits and evacuation gathering locations.  The document also tracks annual (at minimum) updates of requirements and the testing schedule of the emergency plans.

The disasters and emergencies included in the plan cover a wide range of scenarios (fire, workplace violence/terrorism, and many others).  Every employee, visitor, etc. should become familiar with their building's plan in the event that an emergency occurs.  The goal of the BEAP is to prepare everyone in advance for what may happen while they are in the building and provide information on how to react to that scenario.

Each building should keep a training record for graduate students, staff, and faculty that were provided with a copy (either hardcopy or link to electronic version located here on this website) of their BEAP.  This record should be kept in the college safety office for review by UK Crisis Management and Preparedness.
